Digital informed consent for tattoo and piercing studios

Paper consent fails when the form, the signature and the copy live in different places. Here is the workflow studios actually need.

Client signing a digital tattoo consent on a phone

Why paper consent breaks on a busy day

The form is in a folder, the photo of the ID is in a chat, and the verbal aftercare is in someone else’s head. When a client asks for their copy, or an inspector asks for last March, the studio hunts. That is the pain digital consent is meant to remove, not a prettier PDF for its own sake.

Buyers searching for tattoo waiver software, digital consent forms, or consentimiento informado digital are usually trying to solve that hunt. The form still has to match the service: tattoo, piercing, laser removal or micropigmentation are not the same conversation.

Spain does not have one national tattoo decree

Informed consent for tattoo, piercing and micropigmentation in Spain is set by regional hygiene rules. Studios keep a written consent, give the client a copy, and retain the file for the period that region states. A written consent can be electronic. Data inside the file — identity, health answers, signature — also sits under GDPR and the Spanish data-protection law.

TattooHealth’s consent flow is the operational file: service, signature, PDF, and a QR the client opens on their own phone, without installing an app. The longer note for studios is the data-protection report on this site. It is not a certificate from the Spanish data-protection agency, and it does not replace the studio’s contract with its processor. Age rules for tattooing are not the same as the age for consenting to data processing. Follow the rule of your region for the procedure, and do not treat this article as legal advice.

A workflow that stays findable

  1. Turn on the services the studio really offers.
  2. Open the consent from a QR or link that belongs to that studio.
  3. Keep the signed PDF on the client, next to their appointments and care plan.
  4. Send aftercare as a protocol, not as a one-off chat message.
  5. Download a copy of signed files on a schedule your advisor agrees with, if your region expects the record to be available at the premises.

Frequently asked questions

What is TattooHealth for tattoo studios.

Is an electronic signature enough for tattoo consent?

A written consent can be made electronically, but the content and the retention still have to match the rules of your region. TattooHealth stores the signature and the PDF as evidence for the studio workflow. It does not replace local legal advice.

Can the client sign without installing an app?

Yes. They open the studio QR or link on their phone, sign, and the PDF stays on their client record.

Does one form cover piercing and laser?

No. Enable the services you offer. The consent and the calendar should follow the service, not a generic appointment.
